The Basics

Moving into your friend's old apartment

You might go to hang out at a friend's place and think "This place is so niiiice!" This may lead some people to actually think about moving in after their friend moves out.

In that case, please be aware and be careful that the conditions of your contract and that of your friend's could differ.

Even if your friend introduces you to the landlord, to the landlord you would be a new client. Therefore a new contract would be signed, and the landlord can change the conditions of the lease. This is not illegal.

Also, please keep in mind that even if you move in right after your friend moves out, you may still be expected to pay a security deposit, key money, commission and other initial fees needed.
