Guesthouses are a cheap housing option; rent is usually paid on a weekly basis or a monthly basis and residents can live for as short or long a period of time as they like (upon consent with the owner of the guesthouse, of course).
Generally, residents share a kitchen, toilet, and bath/shower. Guesthouses tend to be very international, with people from various countries living and pursuing various things in Japan.
Guesthouses usually require no security deposit and key money. They also do not require a guarantor (co-signer) when moving in, which is considered a huge merit for most people. However, you will be living with people who you don't know, and residents are often moving in and out so this lifestyle may not be appealing to all people. |
